Your Cass County Democratic Party group is bustling like a hive of bees these days. We are getting into high gear to make a difference in the upcoming Midterm Election. All you need to do is pop into the office to feel the excitement. There are plans afoot and people working hard to bring them to fruition.
One of our main goals is to increase Democratic voter turn out on November third. We’ve got the numbers from the last mid-term election in 2022 so we know exactly how many folks we want to motivate to get to the polls to beat that. We’ve got four big projects designed to get fellow Democratic voters to the polls, and each one needs volunteer power to be most successful.
We have jobs big and small right now. There’s something for every level of commitment. Some jobs require contacting others, while others are more behind the scenes. Some you can do from home, some out on the road, and some from the office in Dowagiac. Not sure about your skills? Don’t worry! There are trainings for the jobs with specific requirements.
Perhaps the most important job is one that each of us can do nearly every day. People are persuaded by personal conversation. Talk to your family, your friends, your coworkers, and other people you meet during the course of your daily life. Your conversation does NOT have to be political. In fact, for some it would be better off if it’s NOT political. Just speak from your heart to family, friends and neighbors about parts of your life that you wish were different, like costs at the grocery store, the price of gasoline, healthcare, or other day to day concerns. You will likely find common ground and an opening to say, “I’m voting in November. How about you?” Send them to our new website at ccdpmich.org to inform themselves about candidate platforms and issues. Make sure they are registered, and if they haven’t voted in a few years, remind them to double check their registration since people can and do fall off of voter rolls. Keep a count. How many people can you talk to this week? How many today?
It takes lots of building blocks to make a tower, and it takes your involvement to change our world. Each and every block is important, though. Pick a task and get going on it! Or, if you want to see what's needed for CCDP projects, contact the office or visit us on Saturday mornings at Donuts for Democrats (our open get togethers where we plot and plan) from 10-12 at 204 S. Front Street, Dowagiac, MI, 49047. Looking forward to seeing you there!
If there was ever a time to put yourself out there to help candidates win elections, now is it. As the county party says, “Had Enough?” Time to take action. Help us get out the vote and break records in November!
